June 5, 2024: Friends of Nature & Department of EVS, KCK in collaboration with ZübZüb India observed World Environment Day 2024 on this day at Meriema dumping site.
This year’s World Environment Day campaign focuses on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.”
The exposure to Meriema dumping site was an eye-opener as all the students and teachers saw the ground reality of the waste that is being generated daily. The zübzüb proprietor, Pelenuo Yhome gave a short talk on how it’s very important to educate ourselves on waste management focusing on waste segregation at source, recycling , upcycling, composting and reducing our waste. In a nutshell, she ask us to be a conscious individual and be more mindful of our consuming habits. The students, teachers and the zübzüb team further acknowledged and appreciated the Sanitation workers who have been tirelessly working, collecting wastes from every corner of the city and depositing at the proper dumping site. The participants also thank them personally and provided some light refreshments.
A total of 11 students & 3 teachers participated in the program.
