The Department of History, Kohima College organised a One Day Orientation Programme on UGC-NET Preparation for the Post-Graduate Programme. The resource person was Mr. Taveinii TM, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Don Bosco College who delivered an informative session on the UGC NET/JRF examination. The lecture aimed to guide postgraduate students aspiring to qualify for the National Eligibility Test and Junior Research Fellowship.

The resource person provided an overview of the exam frequency, eligibility criteria, and application process. The discussion covered the syllabus, exam pattern, clarified aspects such as time duration, cut-off determinants, and marking system. Students were also introduced to the question pattern, highlighting the distribution of easy, average, and difficult questions, and effective study strategies.

The importance of smart study was emphasized with advice on prioritizing key topics, practicing previous year question papers, attempting mock tests and preparing well-structured study plan. The selection rate, validity of the certificate and the differences between NET and JRF was also covered. The resource person also further highlighted lists of topics and resources important for the NET/JRF exam in History subject.
The event concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session. The programme was attended by faculty members and 1st and 3rd semester Post Graduate students of the Department of History, Kohima College.
Mr. Taveinii TM is also currently a Research Scholar in the Department of History and Archaeology, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus.
