Department of History introduced a Merit Award for Students in the 6th Semester History Honours Programme w.e.f. from 2021
1st Winner of History Meritorious Award 2022: Liang P Meyo, CGPA of 6.17. This award consists of a commendation certificate as well a prize amount of Rs.5000 & is given to highest scorer in History Honours programme for 6th Semester, with no backlogs & a CGPA of 6 above.
12th —14th August, 2022: Department of History on behalf of Kohima College took point to mark “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day”
The Department of History took the responsibility for pictographic display of the horrors faced by Indians during the Partition of India & Pakistan.
11th August, 2022: History Club organises a Painting Competition, in commemoration of 75 Years of Indian Independence—Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav
The theme of this Painting Competition was 75 Years of Indian Independence—Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
19th July, 2022: Department of History organises a Poetry Writing Contest themed “Freedom Fighters of India”, in commemoration of 75 Years of Independence & Mangal Pandey’s Birth Anniversary
There were several participants from History Honours students of all 3 semesters. The winners of the competition were:

Kuthonu R Puro, Hangsappe Haikube & Ngushu Wanmai H Konyak—5th Semester
25th March, 2022: Department of History organises a Field Trip for 6th Semester History Honours Students to Tuophema Tourist Village Museum
7 Faculty from History Department along with 66 History Honours students of 6th Semester went on a Field Trip to Tuophema Village Museum as part of their Internal Assessment.
2nd October, 2021: Department of History in collaboration with IQAC, KCK, organised a Gandhi Jayanti Greetings Competition for the History Honour students of 1st , 3rd & 5th Semesters on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary
Based on relevance & originality, the best 3 student entries were selected, namely:
Rotila Sangtam, 1st Semester, Roll No. 327 (C)—1st
Mary Achumi, 5th Semester, Roll No. 108 (B)—2nd
Eyam C Konyak, 5th Semester, Roll No. 76 (A)—3rd
1st December, 2020: Department of History launches “History Club” on the 58th Statehood Day of Nagaland
Focus Area for 2021-2020: History of Nagaland.
The objectives of the club are dual in nature. It hopes to gather & unite both students 7 faculty of History Department by a common interest in history & to enable members to share their passion & become involved in the historical community.
24th November, 2020: Department of History organises a Tree Plantation Project
The 25 tree saplings were donated by Vice-Principal, Keneilesa Neika, who with the help of 8 faculty members from History Department planted them.
