3rd November, 2023: Department of Education, Educational Trip to Chida-Post

With an objective to renew the knowledge and gain practical experiences, the Department of education took the 1st Semester Education Honours students for an educational trip to Chida-Post on 3rd November, 2023. Through this trip, the Students and the Faculties had the opportunity to learn and appreciate the values of our rich environment thereby refreshing their knowledge and experiences. Located in Khezhakeno village, Phek District of Nagaland, India; It is a historical village of the Nagas.Tso-Tawo (Spirit Stone): A magnificent spirited flat stone upon which if a basket of paddy is parched in the sun; it generates double-fold in the evening. This is also the significant first settlement site of ‘KOZA’, the foremost Naga ancestral forefather and from where various Naga tribes migrated later on. Although the charm of the stone is said to have gone as it was burned and destroyed, the remnants of this legendary Khezhakeno stone is still preserved in its original location even today.


15th & 16th September 2023: Department of English, Kohima College Organised an educational trip to the Nagaland Theatre Festival, RCEMPA, Jotsoma

19 students enrolled in the 3rd Semester General Elective Paper on Text and Performance attended the Nagaland Theatre Festival at the Regional Centre for Excellence in Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma. The 2-day theatre festival featured a stage performance on the first day and a one-day theatre workshop on the second day. 

The objective of this activity was to expose the students to the practical aspects of theatrical production through the workshop and to allow them to witness an actual theatre performance. 

Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu was sent by the department to chaperone and supervise the students for the two days.  For all the students, both parts of the festival was a first in their lives. The department received very positive feedback from the students. Few expressed a new found interest in theatre and found the skills they learnt during the workshop would be useful for staging productions of their own.


27th June, 2023: 3 students from the Department of Political Science participated at the State-Level Young Leaders Training Programme on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Hyulo Tsela, 6th Semester Honours student from the Department of Political Science was the leader of a 3-person team that participated in the State-Level Young Leaders Training Programme on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These sort of programmes inculcate leadership and responsibility in young adults considering that India is also one of the countries devoted to SDGs that is upcoming in 2030.


10th May, 2023: Department of Commerce Organised an Educational Outing to Dzuleke

The Department of Commerce, Kohima College, Kohima organised an Educational Outing to Dzuleke on 10th May 2023. Approximately around 73 students and 6 faculties participated in this Educational Outing.

The primary objective of this trip was to create awareness and sensitise the students on the importance of environmental conservation and preservation. Through this outing we endeavoured to foster a community that takes responsibility and action in conserving and preserving our nature and its resources.

On reaching the spot, the students and the faculties collected all the waste/plastics/bottles from the river side and ground in and around a particular trekking spot at Dzuleke. The waste materials were collected in trash bags and deposited in the trash collection site. After the social work we gather for a short farewell programme for the outgoing students, 6th semester, of the Department. The programme was followed by lunch and recreational activities for the students.

This educational trip was a fulfilling and enriching experience for all the participants


5th May, 2023: KCSC takes an educational Trip to Peren Rubber Plantation

20 Kohima College Students Council (KCSC) executives visited the Peren Rubber Plantation as part of the annual educational trip for KCK students. In this trip, students learned the process of growing rubber trees, methods used to make rubber for commercial purpose and how rubber companies employ local youths at some stages of this industry.


2nd May, 2023: Department of Political Science organised an Educational Exposure trip at the Botanical Park & Naga Heritage Village, Kohima

50 students from 6th Semester Political Science Honours Programme accompanied by 8 faculty members from Political Science


24th April, 2023: One-Day State level workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights for accelerating Creativity & Innovation” organised by the Nagaland Science & Technology Council (NASTEC), Department of Science & Technology, GoN, in collaboration with Technology Information Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC), Department of Science & Technology, GOI

20 student volunteers from 6th Semester Political Science Honours programme attended this State-level workshop as a learning experience


18th April, 2023: 2 students from the 4th Semester Honours Programme of the Department of Political Science, Kohima College represented the college at the Northern Sentinels Inter College Debate Competition 2023 themed “Are Disparate Tribal Identities Antithetical to Naga Unity, And Thus, A Hindrance in Social Upliftment And Economic Development of Nagaland”, Organised by the 1st (LH) Battalion Assam Rifles under the HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles/IGAR (N)

Kikhosou Rame & Atiba Sangtam, both 4th Semester Honours from Political Science Department participated in the Northern Sentinels Inter-College Debate Competition themed “Are Disparate Tribal Identities Antithetical to Naga Unity, And Thus, A Hindrance in Social Upliftment and Economic Development of Nagaland” on behalf of Kohima College. They achieved 5th position in this competition. Events such as these allow students to experience & also expose them to debate at a higher level as well as encourage public speaking.


1st April, 2023: Department of Education, Field Trip to Dzuleke

A field trip for the 2nd Semester students was organized by the Department of Education on 1st April 2023 at Dzüleke. The faculties and the students had a rejuvenating and an enthralling experience through the beauty, cleanliness, and the uniqueness of the environment.


24th March, 2023: EVS Field trip to Sikhale, Khonoma

6th Semester students of Kohima College, Kohima participated in the educational field trips conducted on 24th of March, 2023 as part of their internal assessment at Sikhale, Khonoma Village. The purpose of the field trip was to enable the students to get hands on experiences of the topics they were taught in theory in their classrooms; to make them aware of their surroundings and its importance and to help them to connect with nature. Altogether, 113 students participated in this activity


23rd March, 2023: EVS Field Trip to Terhotsiese, Khonoma Village

6th Semester students of Kohima College, Kohima participated in the educational field trip conducted on 23rd of March, 2023 as part of their internal assessment at Terhotsiese, Khonoma Village. The purpose of the field trip was to enable the students to get hands on experiences of the topics they were taught in theory in their classrooms; to make them aware of their surroundings and its importance and to help them to connect with nature. Altogether, 133 students participated in this activity


21st March, 2023: Department of Political Science, Kohima College organised an educational trip to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly for 6th Semester students opting for Political Science Honours

5 faculty members from Department of Political Science accompanied 50 students from the Honours programme offered by the department to the opening session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly where the Governor’s speech was given as an extension of their educational process.


18th March, 2023: EVS Field Trip to Sechϋ Zubza

6th Semester students of Kohima College, Kohima participated in the educational field trip conducted on 18th, of March, 2023 as part of their internal assessment at Sechϋ Zubza, Kohima district. The purpose of the field trip was to enable the students to get hands on experiences of the topics they were taught in theory in their classrooms; to make them aware of their surroundings and its importance and to help them to connect with nature. Altogether, a total of 106 students participated in this activity


18th March, 2023: Department of Sociology organised a Field Trip to Rusoma village

Department of Sociology organised a fieldtrip to Rusoma village on 18th March 2023. The department chose to visit this particular village due to its rich folklore & oral traditions. The most famous one is the legendary folklore of Sopfünuo which has been passed down orally. 42 students from 6th Semester (Sociology Honours) were thus accompanied by  4 faculty members from Sociology Department namely Assistant Professors—Seneli Apon Rengma, Purlemla Longkumer, Aosangla Longkumer and Viserenuo Theuno.

The objective of this fieldtrip is to make the students know the importance of folklore, familiarized with village life and to preserve this rich culture. The objectives was achieved as the students has keen interest when the elderly man from this village Mr Kethoselie Zhale narrated the entire story of Sopfunuo and her daughter who were both metamorphosed into stone of human shape.

There was also an interaction where the students poured out numerous questions regarding the time and the year when this incident happen, the name of the husband or even the daughter names,etc. This fieldtrip was a very successful one as it not only benefited the students but even the teachers.


17th February, 2023: Department of History organised an educational trip for 6th Semester students opting for the History Honours Programme to the Department of Art & Museum’s 2nd World War Museum, Kisama, Kohima district

24 students from the 6th semester History Honours Programme were accompanied by 5 faculty members from the Department of History to the Department of Art & Museum’s 2nd World War Museum at Kisama, Kohima district as part of the students’ educational experience of world history.
