September 26, 2024: E-Waste Management Summit


Friends of Nature, Kohima college, Kohima participated in the E-Waste management Summit, Nagaland Chapter at De Oriental Grande, Kohima organized by Nagaland Pollution Control Board in collaboration with Hulladek Recycling Pvt Ltd & e- CIRCLE. The summit served as a platform to discuss the pressing issue e-waste in India and to explore sustainable solutions for its management. The panelists discussed on the environment and health risks associated with electronic waste. They shed light on urgent need for improved e-waste management systems to mitigate the detrimental effects on our environment and public health. The summit was a step towards fostering greater collaborations between stakeholders, government bodies and the community to address the e-waste crisis effectively. The e-CIRCLE as a collection centre in Nagaland plays an important role in taking up the responsibility of collecting e-waste which reduces the negative impacts on the environment and human health, promote sustainability and goes a long way towards protection of environment.


June 5, 2024: Assistant Professor Sangerchila Ozukum, Department of Education, Kohima College as resource person for World Environment Day at Government Middle School


On the very said date Sangerchila Ozukum, Assistant Professor, Department of Education represented the college and Friends of Nature as a resource person. The event took place at Government Middle School, Poterlane, Dzuvuru, Kohima. Addressing the students and teachers, Ozukum focused on the theme “Mission Life”. Students of classes 6, 7 and 8 represented the theme song “Reduce, Reuse & Recycle” following the program, an exhibition was held, showcasing various talents and initiatives: Painting competition on the theme World Environment Day. Exhibition of plants with medicinal properties. Display of recycled bags made from cloth materials. The event aimed to raise awareness and promote environmental conservation among students and the community.


June 5, 2024: Friends of Nature in collaboration with Department of EVS & ZubzubIndia, observed world Environment Day 2024


Friends of Nature and Dept of EVS, Kohima college, Kohima in collaboration with zubzubindia observed World Environment Day at Meriema dumping site. This year’s World Environment Day campaign focuses on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration”.

The exposure to dumping site was an eye opener as all the students and teachers saw the ground reality of the waste that is being generated daily. The zubzub proprietor, Pelenuo Yhome gave a short talk on how its very important to educate ourselves on waste management focusing on waste segregation at source, recycling, upcycling, composting and reducing our waste. She asked all to be conscious individual and be more mindful of our consuming habits. The students, teachers and the zubzub team further acknowledged and appreciated the sanitation workers who have been tirelessly working, collecting wastes from every corner of the city and depositing at the proper dumping site. The participants also thank the them personally and provided light refreshments. Total 11 students and 3 teachers participated in the program.


April 25, 2024: Culmination program conducted by District Administration Kohima

Friends of Nature and Dept of EVS, Kohima College, Kohima were invited to the culmination program which was conducted by the District Administration Kohima in collaboration with zubzubindia. Total of 31 students and 3 teachers attended the program conducted under deeper public engagement and consultation. In this program the reel making competition was declared whereby Kohima College, Kohima won 1 st ,2 nd , and 5 consolation prizes. The District Administration has also donated 2 (two) cycles and two big willy bins for the college.


April 22, 2024: Observation of Earth Day


Friends of Nature and Dept of EVS, Kohima College, Kohima observed Earth Day. Dziesebeinuo Yhome, Convenor FoN highlighted on the theme “Planet Vs Plastic” where she discussed how use of plastic has become a menace today and encouraged every being to have a goal of building a plastic free future for the sake of human and planetary health. A total of 27 students and 5 teachers participated in the programme whereby, all the participants constructed some raised beds using eco bricks for beautification of college campus.


February 21, 2024: Workshop on NCAP

A workshop on National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) was conducted. This was organized by District Administration Kohima in collaboration with zubzubindia and Department of Environmental Science and Friends of Nature, Kohima College, Kohima. The main objective of this workshop is to provide awareness on air quality of Nagaland and to engage the community in reducing air pollution and thus improving the air quality.


September 23, 2023: E-Waste Workshop and Awareness Drive

Friends of Nature and Dept EVS in collaboration with E-Circle which is an authorized Waste Electrical Electronic Equipment (WEEE) collection centre based in Dimapur, conducted a workshop-cum-awareness drive on E-waste on the 8 th of Sept 2023 at the conference hall, Kohima College, Kohima. The resource persons from E-Circle were Ms. Bendangwala Walling and Ms. Soweteü K. Letro. A total of fifty-two (52) First (1 st ) semester students and 6 faculty along with two (2) resource persons took part in the workshop after which the awareness drive was carried out at the Department of Higher Education, Kohima.


September 1—30, 2023: E-Waste collection drive

Dept EVS & Friends of Nature organized an e-waste collection drive for the whole month of September, here teaching faculty and students were encouraged to bring e – waste from respective homes.


    June 5, 2023: Observation of “World Environment Day”

    Dept of EVS along with the cells of NSS and Friends of Nature, KCK jointly organized plantation and campus beautification drive on account of World Environment Day 2023 under the theme Solution to Plastic Pollution” #BeatPlasticPollutions


    June 3, 2023: A Programme organized under the theme “Solution to Plastic pollution”

    Friends of Nature and Dept of EVS, KCK organized a formal programme under the theme “Solution to Plastic Pollution” #BeatPlasticPollution with Rajkumar M, IFS, DFO Kohima as resource person. The program is organized as part of its ongoing pledge to have a single use plastic free zone for the upcoming World Environment Day.
