The Internal Quality Assurance Cells (IQAC) of Kohima College and Baptist College, Kohima, jointly organised the Faculty Exchange Programme 2025 for the post-graduate programme. The 2nd session of this lecture series was hosted by the Department of History, Kohima College, Nagaland.
The resource person for the session was Dr. Kewepfuzu Lohe, Principal of Baptist College, Kohima, who delivered a lecture on the theme “Medanism: Indigenous Beliefs and Practices of the Nagas.”
In his address, Dr. Lohe highlighted the rich socio-cultural heritage of the Nagas, drawing attention to the traditional system of Medanism and its interplay with modern religious practices, particularly Christianity. He stressed the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge systems while engaging with contemporary society.
Dr Lohe, who obtained his MA, MPhil, and PhD in Sociology from North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, has authored several works including Socio-cultural Heritage of Kuzhami Chakesang Nagas (2020), Naga Village: A Sociological Study (2011), and Medanism and Christianity: A Sociological Study (2019).
