October 30, 2025: A Programme on “Building an Inclusive Community: Disability Sensitisation”, Organised by the Committee for Students with Disabilities, Kohima College
Dr. Ketoukhrieu, Assistant Professor from the Department of Political Science, Kohima College, was the resource person for the event.
Dr. Medongunuo Ngone chaired the programme and highlighted its objectives, emphasising the importance of creating an inclusive environment for all. Dr. Ketoukhrieu delivered an enlightening session, shedding light on the different kinds of disabilities and the stigmas attached to them. She eloquently stated, “Disability is also diversity,” stressing the need to recognize and appreciate the diversity that individuals with disabilities bring to the community.
The resource person emphasised the importance of developing empathy and understanding towards people with disabilities, encouraging the audience to foster an inclusive and supportive environment. The programme was attended by class representatives from various departments, students, faculty members, and committee members.
The sensitisation programme served as a significant step towards building an inclusive community, promoting awareness and empathy towards individuals with disabilities. The event highlighted the institution’s commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all members of the community.
