Department of Economics, Kohima College successfully organised the 5th Eco Meet 2026 on this day at the Old College Auditorium, Kohima College.

The programme was centred around the theme “Skills Economy”, reflecting the growing importance of skill-based development in contemporary economic frameworks.

Commencing at 10:00 AM under the chairpersonship of Dr Medongulie Zatsu, the programme began with a welcome address delivered by Lily Angami, Associate Professor & also Head of the Economics Department, who highlighted the relevance of skill acquisition in enhancing employability and fostering economic resilience among students.

The programme was graced by Shri. Zubemo Lotha, Additional Director, Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Nagaland, as the Special Guest. In his address, he emphasised the critical role of skill development initiatives in bridging the gap between education and employment, particularly in the context of regional economic growth.

The event featured a series of engaging segments, including special numbers performed by both junior and senior students, which added vibrancy to the programme. This was followed by speeches delivered by student representatives—Keneivotuo Kesieze (Senior) and Thungdeno L. Erui (Junior)—who shared their perspectives on the evolving skills economy and the role of youth in shaping it.

A key highlight of the programme was the student presentations, which showcased thoughtful insights and academic engagement with the theme. The session provided a platform for knowledge exchange and encouraged critical thinking among participants.

The Special Guest delivered an insightful message, reinforcing the importance of aligning academic learning with practical skills to meet the demands of a dynamic job market.

The programme concluded with closing remarks from the Chair, followed by a lunch break. An informal session was conducted thereafter fostering interaction and reflection among students and faculty.
