Delivering the Principal’s address, Dr. Vitsosie Vupru extended a warm welcome to the freshers and congratulated them on securing admission to Kohima College. He informed the gathering that the college had received around 1,300 applications for admission this academic session, of which only about 800 students were selected.
Congratulating the students on their achievement, Dr. Vupru remarked that their admission reflected their hard work and merit. He stated that the orientation programme had been organised to help students become familiar with the college environment, its rules and regulations, the curriculum under FYUGP, and the various academic and co-curricular opportunities available at the institution.
Encouraging the students to make the most of their college experience, the Principal urged them to remain curious, ask questions, and actively participate in the activities organised by the college. He stressed that active engagement in academics and campus life would enable them to contribute positively to the growth and development of the institution.
During the programme, Dr. Vupru also introduced the Vice Principal and the Heads of Departments to the students, highlighting their roles in guiding and supporting them throughout their academic journey.
An important session on college rules and regulations was conducted by Smti. Sungjeminla, Associate Professor and Convenor of the Students’ Welfare Committee. She highlighted the importance of discipline, academic integrity, and responsible conduct within the campus community.
The programme also featured a dedicatory prayer led by Dr. Tenosenuo Angami, Associate Professor and Member of IQAC, invoking blessings for the students as they embark on their higher education journey.
From 10:30 a.m. onwards, departmental faculty members conducted orientation sessions in designated classrooms. The sessions focused on academic regulations, course structures, and the implementation of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP). Students from the departments of Tenyidie, Education, English, History, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Functional English, and Commerce attended their respective departmental orientations.
