June 5, 2026: Kohima College actively participated in the nationwide “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam (#Plant4Mother)” plantation campaign on World Environment Day, June 5, 2026, at its New Campus.
A total of 25 students and 14 faculty members, including Principal Dr. Vitsosie Vupru and IQAC Convenor Dr. Ketoukhrie-ü, participated in the plantation drive. During the programme, 100 saplings comprising cherry, guava, and wild apple species were planted. The saplings were provided by the Forest Department.
The plantation drive was jointly coordinated by the Friends of Nature Club, the Department of Environmental Science, NSS, NCC, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). Participants planted the saplings across the New Campus with a commitment to ensuring their survival and growth in the years ahead.
The programme reflected the spirit of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, which encourages people to plant trees as a tribute to their mothers while contributing to a greener and healthier environment.
The event concluded with participants pledging to nurture the planted saplings and continue supporting environmental sustainability initiatives both within and beyond the college campus.
