Aug 29, 2026: The 5th Indigenous Food Fest, themed “Roots and Recipes,” was organised by the Department of Sociology, Don Bosco College, Kohima. The event aimed to promote and preserve indigenous food traditions and cultural heritage.
Deuyihangle, a 5th Semester student, participated in the fest and presented the Zeliang indigenous food “Ziegi Tsang Nia,” prepared from fermented mustard leaves. The liquid obtained during fermentation is cooked into a semi-liquid paste, which is traditionally used to prepare different types of chutney.
The event was attended by faculties from the Dept. of Sociology, Asst. Profs. Seneli Apon Rengma & Viserenuo Theuno from the Department of Sociology, KCK. The participating students were Deuyihangle and Thejasenuo.
The event provided the students with a valuable opportunity to showcase and appreciate the rich indigenous food heritage of Nagaland.
