Sept 18, 2026: Functional English Department, Kohima College, Kohima went for an “Educational Tour” to Akashvani Kohima as part of their experiential learning.
The objective of the tour was to bridge the gap between classroom theory (Mass communication and Broadcasting) and to understand the role of public service broadcasting in Nagaland. Fifty five 5th semester Major and Minor students were accompanied by Assistant Professors Cheryl Kevichusa and Dr. Ziuziu Iheilung from the Functional English Department.
The station overview and briefing was conducted by Shri. Moamar Imsong, Program Executive. Moatemsu Jamir, Senior Technician guided the students for a tour of the technical facilities. The students were also briefed about the department’s operations by Ms. Asonuo, Assistant Director, Regional News Unit, Akashvani Kohima.
The students also got the opportunity to record live in the recording Studio Room. Naina Pradhan and Tsulu Lohe, 5th Semester FE Major students presented a song each for the live recordings. Temsula, Program Executive, Co-ordination and Sarfaraz, Assistant Engineer also addressed the students.
The educational tour was an opportunity for the students to get first-hand experience on the functioning and technicalities of the station.
