Sept 24, 2026: The Department of Sociology, Kohima College, undertook an educational field visit to the Nagaland State Museum, Kohima, with 61 students of the 5th Semester, accompanied by four faculty members— Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kekhrieseno Christina and Assistant Professors Seneli Apon, Theunuo, & Aosangla Longkumer.
The visit provided the students an opportunity to engage with the photography exhibition “Time Travel to Nagaland, 1979: A Japanese Photographer’s Record of Life and Tradition,” featuring the ethnographic photographs of Japanese photographer Yuzo Morita, who documented the people, traditions, everyday life, landscapes, and cultural practices of Nagaland during his visit in 1979.
The field visit served as an enriching academic experience for the students, enabling them to observe and reflect on Nagaland’s social and cultural life through historical visual documentation, while connecting the past with contemporary sociological perspectives on culture, tradition, community, and social change.
