February 21, 2026: A training programme on Artificial Intelligence for the students of 6th Semester was conducted on 21st February 2026 at 10:00 AM at Kohima College. The programme began with a brief introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) by the moderator, Dr. Medongunuo Ngone, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Kohima College, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the relevance and growing importance of AI in today’s academic and professional world.

This was followed by an introduction of YouthNet delivered by Esther Angami, HR Manager. She provided an overview of YouthNet, focusing on its skill development initiatives, training programmes, and the various job opportunities available for students and young people.

The main session, titled “AI for Everyone: Understanding Artificial Intelligence – From Everyday Tools to Building Your Brand,” was conducted by the resource person, Florida Jingdong from YouthNet. She began by explaining the concept of AI and asked students to reflect on where they have used AI without realizing it. She emphasized that AI is already integrated into daily life, from unlocking mobile phones to using Google search, YouTube, social media, Google Maps, selfie filters, face and fingerprint recognition, voice assistants, and online shopping.

The session further introduced various AI tools used for research, design, and content creation, including ChatGPT, Perplexity AI, Google Gemini AI, Canva AI, Microsoft Copilot, and Jasper AI. The resource person explained the purposes of these tools and discussed their strengths and weaknesses, particularly in research work, presentations, and content development.

Another important segment of the training focused on Generative AI and Prompt Engineering. Students were taught how to communicate effectively with AI by crafting clear and well-structured prompts. The resource person explained the difference between good and bad prompts and shared practical tips, emphasizing that prompts should include details such as who, what, where, and for whom in order to generate accurate and useful responses.

An interactive activity titled “Build Your Brand with AI” was also conducted. During the activity, students were guided through steps such as identifying a business idea, creating a brand name, writing a tagline, designing logos, creating brand stories, and designing posters using AI tools. Students were then asked to create and present their brand names, making the session engaging, creative, and practical.

The programme also included a segment on “Leveraging AI for Schemes, Operations, and Safety.” In this part, the resource person explained how AI can be utilized to access government schemes, improve operational efficiency, and enhance digital safety. Students were made aware of how AI tools can help in searching for relevant schemes, organizing work processes, managing tasks efficiently, and ensuring safe and responsible use of digital platforms. Emphasis was also placed on ethical AI usage and online safety practices.
