As part of the Value Added Course (VAC) in Mass Communication and Broadcasting for BA 4th semester, the Department of English organized an educational tour to DD Nagaland on 11th February 2026.The primary goal was to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry practice, providing students with a firsthand look at a professional broadcasting environment. Under the supervision of two faculty members, 30 students from the first batch explored the technical heart of television production. Students visited recording studios to observe the intricate setup required for both live and recorded sessions. Participants learned how technical directors and engineers manage live feeds and seamless transitions. A visit to the Archive Library illustrated the critical importance of preserving media and historical footage. Experts provided a deep dive into professional roles, covering everything from camera operations and sound engineering to floor management. The tour successfully translated academic concepts into practical knowledge, resulting in several key takeaways. Students gained a “studio-to-screen” understanding of the broadcasting workflow. Participants identified essential industry equipment, including professional cameras, teleprompters, and mixing consoles. Students observed the vital role of teamwork, timing, and precision in high-pressure live environments.
