Feb 21, 2026: 22 students from the English Department’s 2nd and 6th semesters along with 2 Teachers participated in the multidisciplinary arts events by Takeone production RCEMPA, Jotsoma.

The students watched the historical documentary series titled”Lest We Forget”, a video on the atrocities committed by the Indian armed forces against the innocent Naga civilians, such as the Matikhru Massacre (1960), the Mokokchung Incident (1994), and the Kohima Incident(1995).

Then, the students also saw film portraits on the survivor narratives from the Battle of Kohima: video portraits of men and women who witnessed the Battle of Kohima were screened.

This was followed by a short film of Mr. Niketu Iralu,a peace and social activist. In his interview,he stressed that true peace requires humility – pride must be set aside, and selfishness, ego, and fear must be overcome. He explained that building a sustainable nation begins with attention to small acts, consistently choosing what is right in everyday matters. Progress comes from moving forward in the right direction, celebrating the success and greatness of others, and cultivating love and compassion. Above all,one must listen to the quiet inner voice that guides us.

This trip was an eye-opening experience for the students who learned many aspects of Naga history beyond textual reading.
