Inauguration of Student Counselling Centre with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony. Chaired by Dr Priscilla Ezung, the formal programme began with a benediction by Dr Ketoukhrieu and a special address by Dr Vitsosir Vupru, Principal, KCK. Vupru in his speech stated that undergraduates are facing a lot of pressures-both academic & social. Kohima College intends to commit to orienting faculty firstly as mentors as well as ensure students have a safe centre with professional support from the Carl Roger’s Institute. To quote him “This programme is simple but the purpose is great”. Lona Katiry, Asst Prof., Convenor of the Student Counselling & Mentoring Cell, highlighted the objectives of the Student Counselling Centre:
1. Promote awareness on mental health
2. Promote professional counselling services today to students on mental health & behavioural issues
3. Help students overcome their struggles & mental health issues and deal effectively with the environment
4. Enriching students’ personal growth & self understanding
