The MA 4th Semester students (2024-26 Batch), Department of Political Science, Kohima College, organised a “Faculty Appreciation Day” on this day, at the Conference Hall, Kohima College. The programme was organised on the eve of the students completing their final semester in the college. It was a heartfelt initiative undertaken entirely by the students as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation towards the teachers of the department.

The programme began with an invocation by B Tangmong Shiu, seeking blessings for the gathering & future journeys of both students & faculty & a warm welcome by the chair, Khrieralhouü Kezhie.

As reflected in the programme schedule, various segments were organised by the students, including appreciation speeches from students, a special song performance by Lenvishe & a slam poetry titled “Ode to Teachers” presented by Alvinü Hibo. Many students voluntarily came forward during the programme to share their thoughts, memories & words of gratitude towards the teachers who had guided them throughout their postgraduate journey. Their speeches reflected sincere appreciation for the support, mentorship, patience & encouragement they had received during the 2 years at the college.

The faculty members were deeply moved by the gesture, especially as this was the first time students had independently organised a Faculty Appreciation Day for the teachers of the Department of Political Science. On behalf of the faculty, Associate Professors Dziesebeinuo Yhome & Kevinguno Rose addressed the gathering with heartfelt gratitude to the students for organising such a meaningful programme & also shared words of encouragement & life advice as students prepare to complete their Master’s programme & step into a new phase of life.

The atmosphere throughout the event was warm, very emotional & celebratory, reflecting the strong bond shared between the students & faculty members of the department.

The programme concluded with an official photo session & a potluck lunch contributed by both faculty members & students contributed.

Overall, the Faculty Appreciation Day was a meaningful & a memorable occasion that celebrated the relationship between teachers & students, highlighting community & respect.
