The Department of Sociology, Kohima College, Kohima organised an awareness-cum-interactive session titled “Mental Health in the Digital Age” at the college conference hall for the 5th semester hons student.
The resource speaker was Smti. Veronica Nriame, Psychiatric Social Worker under the District Mental Health Programme (DMHP), Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima.

The programme began with a welcome note by Mrs. Viserenuo Theünuo and prayer by Mr. Khrieneikuo Zumu. The session addressed critical mental health challenges emerging from excessive digital engagement among youth, such as anxiety, depression, internet addiction, and cyberbullying. The speaker highlighted the need for digital detox, stress management techniques, and early intervention strategies.

An interactive Q&A session followed, where students engaged with practical concerns related to social media pressure and digital burnout. The event also saw the felicitation of the Sociology Honours Toppers (Class of 2025) by the guest speaker.

The department reiterated its commitment to promoting mental health awareness through academic engagement. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and was well received by both faculty and students for its relevance and timely intervention.
