The Social Welfare Dept., GoN in collaboration with the Students’ Welfare Committee, KCK, organised an awareness program on “Substance Use Disorder”. The event aimed to educate students on substance use & abuse prevention.
Session 1-“Introduction to Substance Abuse: Importance of Primary Prevention” -By Ketho Angami, President, ARK Foundation. He discussed how substance abuse often starts, the different types of drugs, gate way drugs & ways to prevent from drug addiction. He also gave insight on how different orgs. & their efforts in this fight.
Session 2: Ilato Kiba, a recovering drug user shared his experiences on drug abuse & its harmful effects. He emphasised that the program was not meant to target addicts but to spread awareness. And he hoped that his experiences would discourage participants from indulging in any substance abuse.
Session 3: Interactive Q&A session.
Altogether, 61 students & faculty members of SWC participated in the program.
