June 20, 2026: The Department of English successfully organised its very first Departmental Freshers’ Day on 20th June 2026 in the college courtyard. The main motive of the event was to foster a deep sense of camaraderie among the students and faculty and to welcome the incoming batch and seamlessly integrate them into the departmental family.

The program was ably chaired by Myanthung Jungio (BA 5th Semester). A warm and cordial welcome note was delivered by L. Mongham (BA 3rd Semester), setting a positive tone for the day.
A key highlight of the program was the motivational exhortation addressed by Khriezenuo Angami, Associate Professor&Head, Department of English as they stand at a crucial transition point in their lives—the cusp between childhood and adulthood. She emphasized the following core insights for the new students:The importance of cultivating good habits to shape their character and independent identity. Freshers were urged to ponder the vital question: “What do I want to become in life?”
The core message centered on the idea that true success is deeply rooted in happiness. Students were encouraged to maintain an optimistic outlook and cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Freshers were called to make wise, deliberate use of their three years in college to pave the right path toward a successful and authentically happy life.

Representing the Freshers,Khrienuo Metha delivered a heartfelt speech on behalf of the freshers while Kelelhuwheno Khate (BA 5th Semester) offered insightful words of encouragement on behalf of the seniors. Seeking divine blessings for the new journey ahead, a special prayer for the freshers was pronounced by Ma’am C. Vezholu Kotso, Assistant Professor, Department of English.
The formal session was followed by a series of vibrant and captivating performances by the students.

The memorable day concluded with a light refreshment session, allowing students and faculty to mingle and interact freely. The inaugural Freshers’ Day was a resounding success, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of community, positivity, and excitement for the academic year ahead.
