Aug 21, 2026: MA 3rd semester students from the Departments of Political Science & History, Kohima, organised the 2nd MA Freshers’ Day themed “To a New Venture” at the Conference Hall, Kohima College, on August 21, 2026. The programme was held to welcome and formally introduce the MA freshers to college life.
The programme was chaired by Veluta Venuh, MA 3rd semester and commenced with an invocation by Assoc. Prof. Ase Yalie, Department of Political Science, followed by an address by the Principal, Dr Vitsosie Vupru, who adviced the senior post graduate students to be good examples to all their fellow juniors at Kohima College.
Vethitoli Nyekha delivered a speech on behalf of the senior students, welcoming the freshers and sharing words of encouragement as they began their college journey.
Adding to the occasion, 2 senior MA students presented three special songs, captivating the gathering with their beautiful and melodious voices. The performances brought a lively and celebratory atmosphere to the programme.
Representing the freshers, Kilimthong S. and Vichelo Achumi delivered speeches expressing their thoughts and aspirations as they embarked on a new chapter of their academic lives.
The programme concluded with a benediction by Asst. Prof. Tiamenla Imsong, Department of History. After which an official photo session & luncheon concluded the proceedings.
The Freshers’ Day marked a meaningful beginning for the new students, welcoming them into the Kohima College community and setting the tone for their journey ahead.
