Kohima College inaugurated its 57th Annual Sports Meet. The event, centered on the dynamic theme “Break your Limits,” commenced with the traditional flag hoisting ceremony performed by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Vitsosie Vüprü, Principal of Kohima College.
The programme was presided over by Liyani Lotha with a solemn invocation by Kikogwamle. A special musical number, presented by Bowe Elah, added a vibrant to the opening ceremony.
In his address, the Honourable Chief Guest, Dr. Vitsosie Vüprü, delivered an inspiring speech that resonated with the student athletes. He emphasized the profound role of sports in shaping character, stating that true leadership is often forged on the playing field. Dr. Vüprü further highlighted that sports and academic excellence are complementary, with the perseverance learned in athletics directly contributing to scholarly success. He reminded the gathering that while victory is sweet, the effort, dedication, and positive attitude demonstrated are ultimately more valuable, both in sports and in life. He concluded by urging all participants to play with wholehearted passion and to encourage their fellow competitors in the spirit of sportsmanship.
Following the Chief Guest’s address, the programme proceeded to the Oath-Taking Ceremony, where athletes pledged to uphold the values of fair play, integrity, and respect throughout the sporting events.
