August 6, 2026: National Service Scheme (NSS), Kohima College, Kohima in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, through My Bharat, organized the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme under the special theme, “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” at Kohima College today. The Programme aims to empower young citizens by connecting them with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, while creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraging youth to become ambassadors of a drug-free India.
Kohima College, Kohima was selected as the Nodal Institute in Nagaland to organize the Nasha Mukt Yuva programme. The programme began with the singing of the National song, Vande Mataram. Khekali Sema, Programme Officer, NSS Unit, Kohima College, Kohima chaired the program. Dr. Vitsosie Vupru, Principal. KCK delivered the welcome address. Introduction of Youth Icon and dignitaries/ felicitation was conducted by Zavikhoto Phinyo, Program Officer, NSS Unit, Kohima College, Kohima followed by, MyBharat Orientation by Pradeep J. District Youth Officer, My Bharat, Kohima & Wokha Districts. Videos of MyBharat song and VBYLD Anthem & screening of Nasha Mukt videos were simultaneously played. Youth Icon, Ms. Flora Kent of M.A 4th Semester (Political Science) presented the “Nasha Mukt Yuva”- A Drug-Free Youth for Viksit Bharat, which was followed by Nasha Mukt Pledge whereby 150+ NSS Volunteers took the Pledge. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Hichulo Magh of Ba 3rd semester. The programme was successfully conducted and ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
